DESCRIPTION:
In recognition and appreciation of their obligations to clients, customers, the public, and each other, REALTORS® continuously strive to become and remain informed on issues affecting real estate and, as knowledgeable professionals, they willingly share the fruit of their experience and study with others. They identify and take steps, through enforcement of this Code of Ethics and by assisting appropriate regulatory bodies, to eliminate practices which may damage the public or which might discredit or bring dishonor to the real estate profession. REALTORS® having direct personal knowledge of conduct that may violate the Code of Ethics involving misappropriation of client or customer funds or property, willful discrimination, or fraud resulting in substantial economic harm, bring such matters to the attention of the appropriate Board or Association of REALTORS®

This class meets the NAR mandated requirement for completion of a Code of Ethics class and fulfills the FREC State requirement.

Sylvia Golden Norris

Sylvia has been a licensed Florida attorney since 1991. She is also a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator, a member of both the Florida and Sarasota County Bar Associations, and is 1 of 20 Florida Association of Realtor’s® approved instructors to teach the CE Express Code of Ethics course. 

For 30 years she has represented real estate licensees in DBPR, ethics and arbitration proceedings, mediations, and lawsuits. She is approved Errors & Omissions defense counsel for several E&O insurance carriers including: Lloyds of London, the Pearl/XL Group, General Star and Hanover Insurance. Ms. Golden Norris’ experience includes serving as in-house counsel for a number of years for the largest privately held estate brokerage firm on the west coast of Florida. 

She has represented Realtor Associations for 20 years (Realtor® Association of Sarasota and Manatee and the Englewood Area Board of Realtors®). She chaired the Florida Realtors’® Local Board Association Council, the Sarasota County Bar Association’s Real Property Section and the Sarasota Attorney/Realtor Committee. Florida Realtor® Magazine has published two of her articles on topics related to Escrow Disputes (May 2015) and Short Sales (2010), for which she was awarded the Editorial Excellence Award for her article Flips that May Flop! 
 

A. Registrations are not transferable, but may be refunded per this policy. All requests must be submitted in writing. Education@myrasm.com


B. Registration fees for single classes or seminars of one day or less in length will be refunded in full if the request is received prior to the start time on the business day preceding the class or seminar, excluding weekends and holidays. For example, if a course is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on a Monday, the request must be received by 9:00 a.m. on the preceding Friday. If scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, the request must be received by 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday.


C. Courses that offer a designation or certification, whether single day or multiple days, will be refunded less a $25 administration fee. The written request for refund must be received three business days, excluding weekends and holidays, prior to the course start date. For example, if a course is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. on a Monday, the cancellation and request for refund must be received no later than the preceding Wednesday.


D. If a course is postponed, cancelled, or rescheduled, registrants may choose to receive a full refund or apply the credit toward another course within the same calendar year.
